A formal cocktail party calls for classic colors and a longer cocktail dress. A casual cocktail party, however, lets you wear fancy colors and short length dresses.
A cocktail dress is not a full-length gown. The length ranges from a mini-skirt to above the ankle.In picking the length of the dress, you must consider the formality of the event and whether or not you're comfortable in showing some leg.
The cloth your cocktail dress is made of should reflect the season and general weather at the time the party is held. Colder seasons such as winter and fall require heavier fabrics like wool and wool blends, while summer and spring are better for light, flowy materials. A few types of these are silk and rayon. Selecting your footwear relies on the season and formality of the event. Open-toed sandals are perfect for summer and springtime. Closed-toe sandals are perfect for fall and winter seasons. You should also think about adding thick stockings for cold parties.
Accessories are the final touch to your cocktail party dress. For formal events, traditional accessories like pearls and gold are great. Trendier accessories can be used at more casual events. Don't forget about your hair when picking accessories; headbands and other accents are very in fashion right now.
